Defensive midfielder Sebastian Mrowca saw his fifth yellow card of the season during Wehen’s win at Nurnberg and will be suspended for Sunday’s match.Darmstadt’s loss to Bielefeld was their first home loss of the season. Summer newcomer Patric Pfeiffer made his professional debut late in Sunday’s match.

Wehen ended a two-match losing streak with a 2-0 win at Nurnberg, which also lifted the promoted side off the bottom of the league table. Rudiger Rehm’s team is now potentially one win away from climbing out of the relegation zone, a feat that seemed unthinkable after they took just one point from their first seven matches of the season.

Darmstadt lost 3-1 to Bielefeld Sunday, giving Dimitrios Grammozis’ squad just their second loss in their last eight league matches. While Bielefeld is a tough assignment for any club, Darmstadt did themselves no favors in the loss, essentially gifting Bielefeld the ball via errors that led directly to their first two goals. Darmstadt’s defense struggled to keep pace with Bielefeld’s Fabian Klos all day.

Wehen’s Manuel Schaffler has the potential to trouble Darmstadt the same way Klos did last weekend, but Darmstadt has not lost consecutive matches in the league all season. Expect Wehen to keep things close, but for Darmstadt to ultimately prevail.

Only one of Wehen’s last six matches has seen more than two goals. Darmstadt will want to tighten things defensively after their performance against Bielefeld, especially with Stuttgart and Hamburg coming next on their schedule.

Sunday’s match will be the first 2. Bundesliga meeting between Wehen and Darmstadt. They last played in 2014 in 3. Liga competition, with Darmstadt winning 1-0 at Wehen. The two had drawn earlier in the season.
