Trinita went down 3-1 away at J1 leaders FC Tokyo before the break for international matches, their only goal coming from Ado Onaiwu. Like their visitors today, Trinita have sunk to nine points off the top spot after two defeats and a draw in their last three matches. But those two losses were against the current top two and should not worry Trinita too much. They are unfortunate to have lost their first choice goalkeeper – Ryosuke Kojima – and Tomoki Iwata, who, has two league goals to his name. But the free-flowing football of Trinita, combined with the attitude that they have nothing to lose, means they will overcome the absentees with ease.

Grampus went down 3-1 at Vegalta Sendai in J1 before the international break, with their only goal coming from Mateus. They were without striker Jo and the influential Gabriel Xavier made an appearance from the bench around the hour mark. This would suggest that the team is too heavily reliant on their foreign players. After one draw and two losses has seen them go nine points from the top, they are under pressure to get back on a winning track after conceding five of their season 12 goals in the last three matches. The biggest influence on this match will be if Jo and Gabriel Xavier are fit.

Trinita are a team playing above the sum of their pars and coached very well. The manager will know how to approach Grampus' big guns and will have no hesitation in attacking them and surprising them. Trinita for the win.

Trinita have scored two league goals six times this season and I feel they can do that again, but the fact that they are more relaxed at home and throwing caution to the wind, perhaps my also give some freedom and space to Grampus and, if they are given chances the foreign trio score them. At least three goals in this one.

The last time these two teams met was when both were in J2 in 2017 when we saw Trinita won both matches. Before that they had met in J1 in 2013 when Grampus won both games.
