TEAM NEWS

The Reds have lost Nathan Konstandopoulos for the rest of the season with a knee injury, adding a long list of absentees which includes playmaker James Troisi. Ryan Strain also sustained a hamstring injury in the 2-1 loss to Brisbane last round too.

Tommy Oar was a late withdrawal from the Mariners side which lost 4-3 to Newcastle due to a groin complaint but could return. Chris Harold scored on his debut last round and may start, while Kye Rowles is a doubt after being substituted in the first half against the Jets.

Adelaide Utd

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Michael Marrone (stomach)

Injured/unavailable: James Troisi (thigh), Al Hassan Toure (foot), Pacifique Niyongabire (adductor), Isaac Richards (knee), Kusini Yengi (knee), Nathan Konstandopoulos (knee), Ryan Strain (hamstring), George Blackwood (calf)

Central Coast Mariners

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Kye Rowles

Injured/unavailable: Tommy Oar (groin), Dylan Fox (foot)

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

---

Fifth-placed Adelaide had won three games in a row until last round’s 2-1 loss away to Brisbane, where they had taken the lead in the second half. Gertjan Verbeek’s side are vastly improved at home than away, winning three of their past four matches at Coopers Stadium.

Tenth-placed Central Coast have lost four consecutive matches after going down to the Jets in the F3 Derby. Most worryingly, they have managed only three points from eight away matches this term, having lost seven of them, including their past six.

Adelaide will be desperate to bounce back and will enjoy the return home against a Mariners side who don’t travel well. Adelaide is a safe bet.

SECOND PREDICTION: FISRT HALF HAD: HOME WIN

---

The Reds have scored the first goal in all of their past four matches. Adelaide have also led four times in their eight home league matches this season, while the Mariners have been behind at half-time in five of their eight away league matches this term, shipping 11 first-half goals. I’ll back the hosts to enjoy a half-time lead.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The Mariners last time these two sides met, 2-1 in Gosford in December. But the Reds had won six times in a row against Central Coast in all competitions prior to that. The Mariners haven’t won in Adelaide since November 2016.
