Vasco da Gama were supposed to miss center back Leandro Castan, who got suspended by the sports court for four rounds, but they’ve managed to prevent that ban until his last judgment and he’s available to play in this weekend’s game.

Meanwhile Cruzeiro have almost their entire squad available, with the only two absences being the same players who have been out for a while now.

These haven’t been a good month for Vasco da Gama, especially when they played at home with three winless games in a row – two losses and a draw –, but all those games were either against teams placed near the top or sides climbing up on the table, which was the case of their most recent home match – a 1-1 against Goias.

Before these three winless games they were coming from two wins and hoped to get closer to the Top-8 to qualify for the Libertadores, but that’s impossible now and they will try to guarantee their spot in South America’s smaller cup Copa Sulamericana – something they are extremely close to doing.

As for Cruzeiro, they won two of their last four matches as visitors, but those were their only two away wins in the entire season, which is one of the reasons why they are still trying to avoid getting relegated with only three matches left in the season, and with such a terrible record as visitors they are expected to have problems once again against Vasco da Gama, who are going to win this match.

Out of the 35 matches they’ve played so far, Cruzeiro saw 24 of them end with two goals or below, and the same happened in 21 of Vasco da Gama’s games in the league, so it’s likely to happen in this game too, making it end with a low score.

Having played 19 times at home against Cruzeiro, Vasco da Gama had less wins than losses in these 19 matches as hosts – 7 against 8.
