With Choi Sungguen and Hong Chul out with injuries, Suwon Bluewings have no players in doubt.

Sangju Sangmu midfielder Lee Chandong left the pitch in the first half with ankle injury.

Suwon Bluewings suffered a 3-1 defeat away from home and sit eighth in the table with two points off seven placed Gwangju. The Bluewings fought well against Daegu by taking the lead through Ko Seungbeom’s free kick before the breaks, but they let their 1-0 lead slip away with what looked like questionable substitutions made by manager Lee Limsaeng in the second half. Suwon conceded two of three goals to Daegu within a few minutes after two substitutions by the gaffer were made.

Sangju Sangmu leapfrogged to the third in the table after claiming a second straight win in Round 8 thanks to a conversion from Moon Changjin just before the full time away from home. They dominated the possession and created many goal scorings chances, but they didn’t find a way past Seongnam’s goalkeeper Kim Youngkwang. Just before the final whistle, Moon Changjin sent the shot stopper to the wrong direction after he won the penalty with consultation of VAR.

On paper, the hosts Suwon Bluewings are still believed to be better side than Sangju, however, Suwon have very little support from the bench, particularly they tend to easily lose the control of the game in the second half following unconvincing changes in tactic. Meanwhile, Sangju Sangmu are effective and disciplined in their rigorous game plan with splendid options on the bench. I expect Sangju Sangmu to take all three points.

Suwon Bluewings scored first five times out of eight games, while Sangju did four times. The statistics doesn’t strongly tell who will be the first side though, Suwon’s partnership between Adam Taggart and Kim Gunhee looked particularly good last time out by making a several goal chances. Suwon also always scored first three times out of four meetings in last season, while the other game ended in a goalless draw.

In latest six league meetings, the two sides have been quite close with Suwon winning twice and Sangju winning once. Last season when they met four times, each side recorded one win with two draws.
