Tosu have signed Brazilian striker Tiago Alves from K-League side Jeonbuk Hyundai on loan and defender Park Jeong-su, also on loan, from Kashiwa Reysol. Outgoing we saw Victor Ibarbo to V-Varen Nagasaki on loan, Yatsunori Shimaya – on loan to Tokushima Vortis, and Nino Galovic (Belarus' Dinamo Minsk, loan). They released defender Karlo Brucic. Hiroto Ishikawa is still missing through injury. Yuji Takahashi is suspended for yellow and red card (2) accumulation. Tosu have signed Takeshi Kanamori from Kashima Antlers on loan.

Trinita signed Tatsuya Tanaka from Gamba Osaka, while releasing Kenji Baba to FC Gifu on loan, Tsubasa Yoshihira (Jujieda MYFC, loan) and Daisuke Sakai (ThespaKusatsu Gunma, loan). Kohei Isa is still missing through injury. Naoya Fukumori was allowed to leave to Shimizu S-Pulse this week.

Suspended: Yuji Takahashi (two games)

Tosu went down 2-1 away at Kashima Antlers in their last J1 game before the break. Mu Kanazaki scored their goal. The team sits bottom of J1, with 13 goals to their name in 20 matches, and the worst goal difference in the division. There is surely something wrong inside a vlub that allows a proven goalscorer like Victor Ibarbo to leave, as well as creative midfielder Shimaya – something and someone that the team really needs – not being given a chance to show what he can do. He has returned to his former team on loan. Tosu have not won in three league games, and have only one victory in seven league games.

Playing in the only J1 game of last weekend, Trinita drew level when the game opened up after the break and made it 1-1 against Kawasaki Frontale before eventually going down 3-1. Ado Onaiwu scored the goal, but it was in vain. Trinita have lost just four of their last 15 league games, all of those defeats coming against teams in the current top three of J1. While they have not won for four games away from home in the league, the opposition they have had have been far better than Sagan Tosu!

Trinita simply do not lose against teams at the bottom of J1.

Trinita have just one clean sheet in nine league games while Tosu have managed to score in four of their last six, despite winning only one of those. Goals at both ends, most likely a 1-2 scoreline for me.

Until earlier this season these two had not met in the league since 2013 (two wins for Tosu in that year), and we saw Trinita win 2-0 at home earlier this season.
