Millwall’s Tom Elliott is a doubt with a thigh issue. Target man Matt Smith and forward Jon Dadi Bodvarsson could make their Lions debuts at the weekend.

David Nugent will be hoping to make his second Preston debut this weekend while fellow new signing Patrick Bauer will slot into the defence. Meanwhile, Ryan Ledson is suspended.

Millwall survived relegation by the skin of their teeth last season, finishing in 21st place with a four-point lead over the bottom three. Because of that, Neil Harris has changed his squad drastically over the summer months, with a number of players coming in and heading out at The Den. Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Matt Smith, Frank Fielding, Connor Mahoney and Jayson Molumby have joined, with Jordan Archer, Lee Gregory and Ryan Tunnicliffe departing.

Preston had a topsy-turvy campaign last term, winning 16, drawing 13 and losing 17 in league action to finish in 14th spot. Although Callum Robinson has joined Sheff Utd, Patrick Bauer and David Nugent have arrived. Alex Neil’s North End lost each of their last four away league games last term, and this will not be an easy one in the English capital.

The Den can be a fortress, but Millwall sealed just seven home league wins last term, along with nine draws and seven losses. Nevertheless, the Lions will want to get off to a roaring start in front of their home supporters this weekend. Back a Millwall win here.

Preston did the double over Millwall last season, and there were nine total goals scored in those two league matches. This has the potential to be another high-scoring affair at the weekend.

Millwall have not beaten Preston in league action since a 4-0 league win at The Den back in April 2011, drawing twice and losing twice in the meantime.
