MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

Midfielder Sebastian Ernst scored in the first minute of Greuther Furth’s match at Holstein Kiel, providing the visitors their only goal in a 1-1 draw. Last week’s loss of Maximilian Wittek to a broken arm opened the door for midfielder Kenny Prince Redondo to make his second start of the season and provide the assist on the Ernst goal. Stefan Leitl’s side is now unbeaten in three matches and sit fifth in the table.

After being kept off the scoreboard in consecutive matches, Hamburg returned to their winning ways with a 2-1 win over Jahn Regensburg. Hamburg’s first win in four matches was overshadowed by an injury to defender Louis Beyer who lost consciousness and had to be carried from the pitch following a collision late in the match. With his team again struggling to create offensive chances, Dieter Hecking changed away from his favored 4-3-3 tactic early in the match.

Greuther Furth are on a decent run of form having beaten Stuttgart and taking a point from Kiel, while Hamburg have struggled lately, losing to St. Pauli and at Aue before last weekend’s win. Hamburg has not lost to Greuther Furth in 2. Bundesliga, however, and won’t do so on Friday night.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO - LOW

Two goals in total scored in each of Greuther Furth’s last three league matches. Three of Hamburg’s last five league matches this season saw two total goals.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Hamburg has taken seven points from their three all-time 2. Bundesliga meetings with Greuther Furth, including three from October’s 2-0 win in Hamburg.
