Go Ahead had a decent season last year and will once again be considered as outsiders for the title, but at least to make a run into the playoffs. Last season saw them finish fifth, with 19 of 38 games won, 6 draws and 13 losses. They will hope to start the season better than they ended, losing four from their past five league matches. Go Ahead won 11, drew 3 and lost 5 of their home league games last season.

Maastricht are up for a tough season, they barely have a squad together and they can be content if they can equal their 12th place outing of last season. I don’t see them winning 14, drawing 12 and losing 12 in the league again. I also don’t see them have another excellent season away from home, with the side winning 8, drawing 6 and lossing 5 away from home.

I expect Go Ahead to do well this season as they have signed excellent players in the off season; including Mael Corboz, Alexander Bannink and striker Anthony Rabillard. Maastricht have been able to just barely establish a starting eleven without untested youth players and will need to work hard to sign a few more players. This will currently hurt them.

With Maastricht having just 12 or 13 players available that would be considered first team players, I expect they will struggle in the opening rounds. I see Go Ahead book a massive and easy win here. 9 of their 11 home league wins saw them score 2 goals or more last season.

Maastricht have won just one from nineteen travelling to Deventer in the league and lost the previous two encounters; 2-0 and 3-1.
