Flamengo attacking midfielder Arrascaeta got his knee injured and even if he is able to play this match they will rest him for next weekend’s Copa Libertadores final. The good news is that coach Jorge Jesus and right back Rafinha can join the team after being suspended for last weekend.

Vasco da Gama have one offensive player out as well – forward Talles Magno – but this round they will count with center back Leandro Castan and striker Marrony returning from suspension.

Suspended: None

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: Arrascaeta (knee)

Injured/unavailable: Talles Magno (thigh)

With every round Flamengo get one step closer to winning the title and now they have a ten point advantage over the second placed. Coming from 24 unbeaten games in a row at home (one of the matches played on neutral ground), they face their main rivals Vasco da Gama now who are placed in the bottom half of the table and failed to win their last four matches in the Brasileiro prior to last weekend’s 3-0 away win against CS Alagoano, that almost got them free from the threat of getting relegated.

Vasco da Gama don’t have a particularly poor defense but it’s their attack that has been their main problem this year, with only 31 goals scored so far, giving them the worst offensive numbers out of the first 14 teams in the standings, and without Talles Magno, who’s their main offensive player, they will have problems against one of the best defenses in the league, and that’s how Flamengo will stop them and win the match.

Flamengo kept a clean sheet in three of their last six matches as hosts in the Brasileiro, and they all ended with two or less goals in the final score, meaning they had a low score in those games. Now, they will not give it all while trying to rest for the cup final and even though they will win the derby it won’t be by many goals. That way, we will see another low score win for Flamengo.

This is the sixth and final time these two sides clash in 2019 and after two draws in the first couple of matches, Flamengo won the three most recent ones, and beat Vasco da Gama 4-1 in their earlier encounter in the league this year.
