Dijon: Another win ( Recent Form: D L D D W )

The last competition win from Dijon already dates back to mid-November, after which five competition matches in a row were not won, but the team from the mustard city started the new year well with a cup victory. A visit to second-class Valenciennes won 2-1 in the 1 / 32nd finals of the Coupe de France, meaning that next weekend a meeting with Nîmes Olympique awaits in the sixteenth finals. Before that, Stéphane Jobard's team will have the chance to get a little further in the league at the relegation line, because the one point lead that their team now has on the shared numbers of seventeen, Metz and Amiens, is not yet a safe lead . Like every team, Dijon has achieved the majority of points in home games this season. In the own Stade Gaston Gérard, the Jobard team has been unbeaten seven games in a row and not against the least opponents. Paris Saint-Germain and Stade Rennais, the numbers one and three of the ranking, were both beaten with 2-1 and the number two of the ranking, Olympique Marseille, was also held on a 0-0 draw. Defending remains a problem for Dijon, as in nineteen league games this season only zero was held four times.

Lille: Victories in both cup tournaments ( Recent Form: W W L W W )

In the last race before the winter break, Lille went on a 5-1 visit to AS Monaco, but in 2020 the team of Christophe Galtier has managed to get a good start. A visit to the fifth division US Raonnaise was won 3-2 in the 1 / 32nd finals of the Coupe de France and last Wednesday, Amiens won 2-0 in the quarter finals of the Coupe de la Ligue. Next weekend, in the sixteenth finals of the Coupe de France, another five-division team is waiting, this time Entente Sportive Municipale de Gonfreville-l'Orcher, which means that Galtier does not seem to have to save players against Dijon in the first days despite the busy schedule. Lille has barely shown much in away games in the Ligue 1 this season. Out of nine games on relocations, only five points were won by one win and two draws. On the defensive level in particular, Dogues are having a hard time in away games, because in only two of the last eleven games on the move were not the zero held. Also in scoring area it can be a lot better, because in the Ligue 1 only six goals were scored in away games, compared to eighteen in home games.

After all, Lille has a better selection on paper than Dijon and that difference in quality can also be seen in the rankings. It is therefore not surprising that les Dogues are the favorite for this away game against Dijon, but as far as I am concerned, the value lies with the team from the mustard city. Dijon has been unbeaten seven times in a row at home, while Lille is not yet convincing in away games in the Ligue 1 this season.
