TEAM NEWS

This match is the Mariners’ third in a week, so coach Alen Stajcic may opt to rotate his players. Jordan Murray is out with a dislocated shoulder.

Wanderers, in their first match back, will deputise injury replacement goalkeeper Tristan Prendergast who they signed from NSW NPL club Blacktown City for the rest of the season with number one Daniel Lopar unavailable.

Central Coast Mariners

Suspended: None

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: Jordan Murray (shoulder)

Western Sydney Wanderers

Suspended: None

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: Vedran Janjetovic (shoulder), Daniel Lopar (personal)

MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

The last-placed Mariners have had a horror run of defeats, leaving them languishing behind the rest and almost certain to finish with the wooden spoon. They go into this game having played Newcastle Jets at home in a game that ended with a draw 0-0, breaking their losing streak. This match will be played at Central Coast Stadium where they’ve had some success this season, which offers some hope.

Ninth-placed Wanderers still have five matches to play, offering them hope of a top six spot. Jean-Paul de Marigny has been confirmed as permanent boss after taking over on an interim basis following Markus Babbel’s departure in January.

Wanderers have managed to keep their key imports Simon Cox, Pirmin Schwegler and Nicolai Muller and I think that level of quality will tell here.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST HALF HAD – AWAY WIN

The Mariners are the worst first-half side in the league, trailing 14 times at the break. Wanderers have been goal shy at times, I’ll back Western Sydney to lead at the break.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Western Sydney have won the past two meetings between these two clubs. They’ve also got a dominant recent record, winning six of the past seven encounters against the Mariners.
