Antofagasta’s Paulo Garces is suspended while Marco Collao remains injured. Two players are ineligible.

Palestino’s Cristobal Jorquera is out with a muscular injury. Julian Rodrigo Fernandez was sent off last weekend and is suspended. Roberto Gutierrez is doubtful after not playing in the Copa Libertadores in midweek.

Suspended: Paulo Garces

Doubtful: None

Injured/Unavailable: Marco Collao (undisclosed); Juan Ignacio Duma, German Estigarribia (both ineligible)

Suspended: Julian Rodrigo Fernandez

Doubtful: Roberto Gutierrez (foot)

Injured/Unavailable: Cristobal Jorquera (muscular)

Antofagasta have been underachieving this season, having secured just two wins in seven league matches thus far, along with two draws and three losses. Their most recent league outing ended with another disappointing 2-0 defeat away at Iquique, with both goals arriving in the second half. At home, only two other sides - Cobresal and Audax Italiano - have secured even fewer than Antofagasta’s four points so far. On a positive note though, they are unbeaten in their last two home league matches, with one win and one draw - a streak the team are likely to be keen to extend.

Palestino are coming off a 1-1 last-gasp league draw at home against top five side O’Higgins where they conceded the equalizer in stoppage time. Sitting in eighth, they have been inconsistent this season, with two wins, two draws and three losses, and have not registered two of the same outcome once so far. Their focus is bound to be on the Copa Libertadores this week where they lost 3-2 in a group game against Brazil’s Internacional in midweek. They have been rotating the side heavily this season given their involvement in several competitions and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see yet another alternative side for this league contest.

Both sides are in dire need of a win, but Antofagasta should take advantage of the fact they will play at home and face a team who are bound to be tired because of an intense travelling schedule. I predict a home win here.

All of Antofagasta’s three home league games have been level at half time. Expect the teams to be drawing after the first 45 minutes here, too.

Antofagasta have won two and drawn two of their last four league encounters with Palestino.
