MATCH PREVIEW
MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN
Samuel Fridjonsson gave Viking the lead away against Mjondalen last weekend, but the visitors couldn’t hold on. Alfred Scriven levelled matters, earning a point for the hosts shortly after the break. Viking’s captain Zlatko Tripic missed the league game with a hip injury and he was a big miss in the final third of the pitch. The team have lost just one of their five home league matches this season (three wins, one draw) and if one excludes that defeat - a 4-3 home league loss against Bodo Glimt two weeks ago - they have conceded just twice on their own turf.
Haugesund suffered a humiliating 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Ronny Delia’s Valerenga in their last league match. The visitors were 3-0 ahead by the interval before they added a fourth goal in the 62nd minute. Ibrahima Kone pulled one back for Haugesund in the 77th minute, but it was mere consolation. The result consigned the team to a second consecutive league defeat while they are also winless in their last three league matches (one draw, two losses).
With the exception of their loss to Bodo Glimt at home in their last home league match, Viking are unbeaten in Stavanger in league action. I fully expect them to return to winning ways as they welcome Haugesund.
SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – HIGH
Three of Viking’s last four home league matches this season have contained three total goals or more, while the same applies to three of Haugesund’s last four league outings. I think we will witness another high-scoring league game.
HEAD TO HEAD
Viking haven’t lost at home to Haugesund in the league since 2015, although that run only covers one wins and one draw.
