Montedio conceded a 92nd minute equaliser to draw 2-2 away at Albirex Niigata last weekend in J2. Shuhei Otsuki scored both goals for the away team. A win for the team would have seen them atop J2 so there will be disappointment after they looked as if they were going to win again. We may see the team realise that they must take more of their chances to seal games before there is a chance of a comeback from their opposition. Otsuki is looking a good finisher now and hoping to prove he is still a J1-class player – perhaps with Montedio next season! With just three home games played so far, they have two wins and a draw (and are unbeaten since opening day) and look solid everywhere but especially at home.

Renofa scored a late winner through Ryuho Kikuchi to take a 1-0 home win against Kagoshima United in J2 last weekend. But even in this game they were outgunned but their visitors at times and are fortunate that Kagoshima could not convert any of their chances. That late winner ensured Renofa of pulling out of the bottom three but will be a short-term solution as they should not expect anything from this game.

Montedio's class and attack will be too much for the jittery defence of Renofa. We can expect a home win as one of the safest bets of the day, I feel.

With a division-high 18 goals conceded do not expect Renofa to keep a clean sheet. They have just one this year – last week against J2's bottom team.  Meanwhile, despite winning just two matches all season they have managed to score 15 in their nine league matches. It would be a safe bet that we will see goals, the majority of them against Renofa, though!

In J2 matches between these two teams last season each team won their away match.
